Stories of Hope

“Feeling and thinking I was at that point of no return. Dropped off downtown, rolling my luggage through the dark alleys, considering suicide as a kinder option, somehow, I found strength to seek recovery again.

Approaching Salvation Army shelter a long-time friend and employee in recovery showed care and concern for my well-being. I took advantage of the bed he offered. I finally felt safe and continued journey to detox at Harbour Light.

Over 2 months clean now. I remain safe, needs cared for and feeling I can contribute something to this world. I desire to live once again. Salvation Army has helped me believe in myself again, given me safety to do the work and shown me love and care I so urgently needed.

I remain internally grateful, am an example to others that once felt as hopeless as I once did. May you all be free of suffering.”
