Pre-Treatment
The primary goal of pre-treatment is to prepare you to enter the treatment program. You may need to take care of some outside business, and we would like to assist you with that before you start with a primary counsellor. Pre-treatment may last one to four weeks, depending on your individual needs and readiness.
During this part of the program, you may work on securing funding; TB testing; connecting with a doctor; stabilizing on medications; beginning a mental health referral, etc.
You’ll start daily journaling, write a letter of introduction, and work through some initial question to prepare for treatment. You’ll meet key staff in our programs, and attend program and kitchen orientation sessions.
You can expect to check in with one of our counsellors daily. You’ll also participate in our morning Reflections, your small group, and our community meal service every day.
Treatment staff will determine client suitability based on a variety of factors; including, but not limited to, the clients’ ability to:
• demonstrate a willingness to commit to the 90-day program and motivation to change;
• attend and actively participate in mandatory program activities;
• comply with the rules and regulations of the treatment program;
• have medications/medical situations that comply with medication policy;
• physically and mentally participate in all aspects of program;
• accept being exposed to Christian values and principles;
• complete the four pre-treatment assignments:
o New Client Orientation
o Kitchen Orientation
o Orientation signature sheet
o Letter of Introduction
• settle any outside matters that may otherwise interfere with full participation in the 90-day program. For example:
• In addition to attending all program activities, clients must attend a minimum of four (4) AA/NA meetings per week.
Clients are coached by staff in any areas that may need improvement in order to enter the 90-day program. If a client is unwilling or unable to demonstrate an effort to improve, they will be deemed unsuitable for entering Phase 1.
Upon entering pre-treatment you are on a buddy system for 30 days, which means that you are not to leave the building unless someone else from the program is accompanying you. Please let the pre-treatment counsellor or stabilization counsellor know about what your needs are, and we will provide assistance finding someone to accompany you.
Stabilization
We offer a limited number of stabilization beds for men waiting for acceptance into another treatment facility or recovery house, or waiting to move into housing. Stabilization clients primarily come from our detox program. Stabilization shares the same schedule and small group as Pre-treatment.
